About project

MY HOPE: MY HOME - OUR PLANET - YOUR CHOICE

Work process

The project will be run in four phases: Transportation-waste and recycling-alternative energy-consumption of food. The first two topics to be covered in one year and the next two in the second school year.

Expected results

For our pupils, to gain a better knowledge of environmental issues and thus be more critical in the sense that they will handle the topics from different angles or points of views. - build awareness on what they can do themselves to contribute to a better environment. - experience the common environmental issues in the global world and being more aware of the fact that cooperation in the whole world is essential. - get better command of ICT, language and communication skills while cooperating with their European peers and working on project activities. - create authentic situations in order to see and understand the purpose of doing something for the planet and themselves, which will motivate them to be conscientious and thoughtful European citizens. - better understanding of environmental issues addressed by the media - Improve their sense of European Citizenship.

Working across borders of European countries using a common foreign language (English) will create authentic situations for students and teachers to cooperate in. Studying and critically comparing current habits and actions between countries when working with environmental topics will enable the students to make reasoned decisions in the future as active members of a European community. Choosing environmental issues that the pupils can relate to from their everyday lives (waste and recycling, food consumption, alternative energy and transportation) will make it relevant for the pupils to work with. Using ICT to communicate, make and share products will be a natural part of all ongoing activities.

Main goals are for our students to become aware of practices, similarities and differences concerning environmental issues chosen and culture in general between countries and with this knowledge improve their local environment and make informed choices as European citizens.

Improved autonomy will enable students to use these tools in future situations and we wish for our students to gain awareness of the win win situation of taking care of our planet together; healthy planet - healthy body and mind.

Each school will produce:

- several statistical surveys - collecting, sharing, comparing and analysing data
- presentations of different work processes throughout the project’s life, using various ICT based programs and applications
- gifts to exchange, using waste materials
- interactive or ICT based tourist brochures
- products driven by alternative energy
- visual documentation of an experiment with organic and non organic food
